Brenda Beauchamp, MA

Registered Counselling Therapist-Candidate

Certified Clinical Trauma Professional (CTTP)

Hello!

I’m Brenda (she/her). My journey into psychotherapy stems from a lifelong passion for connecting with others and supporting them through life’s challenges. I hold a Bachelor’s degree from Mount Saint Vincent University and a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University.

Before transitioning into therapy, I spent the first half of my career in early childhood education as the owner and director of a childcare centre in Halifax. While I loved working with children and families, I realized my true calling was to accompany individuals through healing and personal growth.

Therapeutic Approach

My practice is grounded in collaboration, empathy, and evidence-based care. I believe that each person’s path to wellness is unique, and I work with clients to co-create a treatment plan that aligns with their goals and strengths. Key modalities I offer include:

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR): A trauma-focused therapy that uses guided bilateral stimulation (eye movements or tapping) to help process distressing memories. EMDR was fundamental in my own healing journey after a personal tragedy, and I am passionate about sharing its benefits.

Brainspotting: A somatically oriented approach to accessing and releasing trauma held in the body.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT): Practical tools for managing anxiety, depression, and unhelpful thought patterns.

Gottman Method for Couples: Research-based skills to strengthen communication, trust, and connection in relationships.

I specialize in supporting clients experiencing depression, anxiety, trauma, life transitions, and general emotional distress. No matter the presenting issue, you can expect a warm, non-judgmental space where your voice is heard and your experiences are honored.

Commitment to Inclusivity

As a lifelong learner, I dedicate time to researching gender diversity and gender-affirming care for 2SLGBTQQIA+ individuals in Nova Scotia. Inclusivity and respect for all identities inform every aspect of my work, ensuring a safe environment for clients from diverse backgrounds.

Personal Interests

Maintaining balance through an active lifestyle is important to me. Outside of the therapy room, you’ll find me:

  • Golfing on Nova Scotia’s scenic courses

  • Hiking coastal trails

  • Traveling to explore new cultures

  • Building art projects with power tools

Life is an experience meant to be shared. When we work together, I bring warmth, kindness, compassion, and understanding to every session.

I look forward to supporting you on your journey.

-Brenda
