Samantha Nestor, MA

Registered Counselling Therapist-Candidate

Canadian Certified Counsellor

 Hi there,

I appreciate you taking the time to learn about me and my practice.

My name is Sam (she/her), and I’m a Registered Counselling Therapist (Candidate) with the Nova Scotia College of Counselling Therapists, as well as a Canadian Certified Counsellor with the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association.

I believe therapy is a collaborative process, and that a strong therapeutic relationship is central to meaningful change. I approach each session with the belief that every individual holds the capacity for growth, empowerment, and deeper connection—with themselves and with others. My goal is to create a safe, nonjudgmental space where you feel truly seen and heard.

I work with couples and individuals 18+, both in person and virtually. My experience includes supporting clients through relationship conflict, recovery from intimate partner violence, trauma, anxiety, self-worth issues, emotional regulation, and more. I use a comprehensive, integrative approach, drawing from a variety of therapeutic modalities to best support your unique needs.

A little about me personally: I’m originally from Yarmouth, Nova Scotia, and moved to Halifax 15 years ago to attend university. After graduating, I worked as a women’s support counsellor in homeless shelters and transitional housing for women and children fleeing intimate partner violence. These powerful experiences led me to pursue a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology, driven by a desire to make a broader impact on mental health services here in Nova Scotia.

When I’m not with clients, you’ll likely find me spending time with friends and family—probably singing karaoke, playing a round of golf or planning my next adventure – I love to travel!

I know that change can be scary. My goal is to listen to your story, help you explore how disconnection may be affecting your life, and work alongside you to chart a new way forward.

I look forward to learning more about you.

Warmly,

-Sam
