Taylor Armstrong, MA
Registered Counselling Therapist
Canadian Certified Counsellor
Hello,
My name is Taylor (she/her). I am a Registered Counselling Therapist and Canadian Certified Counsellor who works with individuals and couples who are 18+.
I specialize in helping people who are seeking to understand or change their relationship with substances. This can include working towards decreasing consumption or exploring sobriety. I also work with individuals and family members looking for guidance supporting a loved one who is struggling with substance use. My work with addiction is informed by my own lived experience in recovery and 7 years spent supporting individuals within both abstinence and harm-reduction based models in the shelter system and transitional housing.
In addition to my work with addiction and substance use I also support individuals who are struggling to navigate complex family or relationship dynamics (co-parenting and step-parenting), managing perfectionism and self-criticism, moving through life transitions, anxiety, stress and burnout.
I work with couples (all relationship structures) who are struggling to navigate conflict in a healthy way, or who are feeling disconnected, stuck or more like roommates. I also support couples who want help ending their relationship and transitioning towards effective co-parenting or a blended family.
I do not believe in “one size fits all” therapy. I strive to meet my clients where they are by incorporating humour, humility and our shared humanity into my work. You can expect me to challenge you respectfully while maintaining a judgment free space.
I am trained in the Gottman Method (Levels 1 & 2), Emotion-Focused Therapy, Motivational Interviewing and am currently studying Somatic Techniques for Complex Trauma.
If it sounds like I may be the right fit, I would love to connect with you!
